Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Did everyone have a fun weekend? Ours was jammed packed with activity, and I’m a bit exhausted this morning (and longing for some “free time”). But everything we are doing is fun, so it’s hard to complain. But I can tell the kids are feeling it as well, as they’ve been a bit grumpier and “edgy” recently. And falling asleep before their heads hit the pillow. Me too, kids – me too! So with that, let’s catch up a bit.
Biking fun! This has been the activity of choice for the kids lately, and we are really lucky to have a nice quiet cul-de-sac right in front of our driveway. And bonus that Reagan’s new bike has a basket – has made things much easier to transport water, phone, etc. down there when the kids want to ride. I am now secretly hoping we are almost to the point where we can take family bike rides on our local canal path. This little miss just needs a bit more practice, but brother bear is READY!
It’s strawberry season! We have 3 boxes of strawberry plants in our garden, and they are doing so well this year! Dare I say we are having trouble keeping up with them? Although Nathan requested a strawberry pie this weekend, which I am excited about. Any other fun recipes for strawberries? The kids got quite the kick out of this guy, which was like 4 strawberries in one.
With the longer days, the kids are good about sneaking in every ounce of outside time before we need to head inside for dinner, baths, and bedtime. This was last Tuesday night before soccer pictures, and Graham insisted he get a few minutes of practice on his scooter before we left (his cousin in trying to teach him how to do jumps and wheelies…)
Back massages before work and school! This kid has her daddy wrapped around her little finger (and he wouldn’t have it any other way).
Dunk tank! Graham had field day at his school last Friday, and they needed volunteers to go in the dunk tank. Who am I to say no to something like that? His class got the biggest kick out of this, and I would say at least half dunked me. It was a blast, and Reagan had so much fun just watching the whole thing. Graham had NO CLUE I was going to be doing this, so the look on his face was worth all the murky water swimming I did that afternoon…
More field day fun. It was a boardwalk theme, and they had so many games setup on the grass outside the school. This was our first experience with field day, and they do it up big-time at his school. This week he’s got a caterpillar play, board game days, and NO HOMEWORK! We’re wrapping things up.
Our little miss is getting really good at the monkey bars. Her goal is to get herself on top of the monkey bars, and this was a good start. Although she has a friend the same age that can go forwards and backwards on the monkey bars, so she’s got a way to go
Plank challenge – I did it! I’ve been working hard towards a 5-minute plank hold, and last night I decided was going to be the night. And I did it! Wow, did this hurt like crazy. But pain is temporary, pride is forever, right?
What do you do when it’s 90 degrees outside – play IN the water table of course! Nathan had just sprayed the lawn that morning, which is why they were in the driveway. She was perfectly happy doing this for an hour and a half before she got tired. And the kids already said we are doing this as soon as they get home from school today.
And while Reagan and Nathan were splashing around in the water table, I got to take this guy ice skating! This was his first time, and he rocked it! He’s already planning a return trip. And he was just the sweetest holding my hand while we skated around. I wonder how long that will last?
Who needs to pay for a pedicure with this girl around? This was Friday evening after field day, and I had zero energy left to give. So she played in the tub and gave me a “pedicure” for at least a half hour. “After I get out I’m going to rub lotion all over your feet and brush your hair, okay Mommy?” Okay girlie!
I’m starting to get back into a running groove! I made it my goal to run twice a week this month, and so far so good. I’m also trying to get to the point where 5 miles feels relatively “easy” so I am ready to officially start half marathon training next month. I definitely have my work cut out for me if I’m going to come anywhere near a PR, but I am ready to work. This run was Thursday night, and I was loving being outside as the sun was going down. So pretty!
This guy is looking so grown up lately, and I just can’t handle it. He turns 6 next month! And then I assume teeth will start falling out, which I heard is a huge milestone because it totally changes the kids’ appearance. I keep telling him I’m going to stop feeding him so he stops growing so fast.
Like I said, we are all pretty worn out and tired from all the activity. I imagine this is how we will feel all summer, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! And with that, I hope you all have a wonderful week, and stay cool as temps are going to be over 90 this week. Bring on the summer!
